In the last few days, the people of Singapore were saddened by news of the passing of the wife of Mentor Minister, Lee Kuan Yew. There were many articles, on-line blogs and news briefs about her life and how she contributed to the nation in her quiet ways. It supplied not only an interesting read but also a tug at heartstrings.

What amazed me was the close bond she had with people and how much she cared for her spouse. The relationship she had with her husband was so close that to have and to hold, for better and for worse became so true. It is such a blessing to  have a soul mate, someone to confide in, someone to rejoice with, someone to share your sorrows. In today’s world where relationships are taken lightly, so transient, having a true friend is a rare find.

So, let us cherish the close ties with people around us, with people who make a difference to our lives. Farewell, Mrs Lee. You will be remembered.
